Do people online say more ignorant things than in real life?
Black: It may be discouraging the amount of stupid things said online, but I don't think they are more ignorant statements than real life.
Black: The Internet just connects us to more of these kinds of people.
Yellow: I disagree. The web provides for less accountability. It is so much easier to say something ignorant online.
Yellow: There may be open-minded statements online, but tone of the web tilts towards ignorance.
Green: Freedom to express ones ideas without consequences can be good or bad.
Green: In reality if more people make ignorant statements online then that is the way the web will be. Same for open-minded statements.
Green: IT may not seem like it, but your statements affect the tone of the web. It's important to think about what you say online if you want to contribute.
Subtext: Reading posts online you think “Man, people can't be this stupid in real life”. Working in a customer service you think “Wow! People really are this stupid in real life”.
