Trying to define what art is is like defining a molecule in a glass of water. I could show you regular H2O, or the hydronium and hydroxide ions, or the isotopes of the atoms, or whatever the hell is dissolved in there. Art isn't just one thing.
Kazyan- You are correct that there cannot be one universally accepted definition of art. But i can understand what other people think is art and though that come to a greater understanding of art in general.
We each have a different definition of art- Isn't that what this comic is about?
as far as the layout of the comic is concerned i like this one best and, i think art is an expression of the individual's self through whatever medium comes more naturally to them.
Defining art is like defining soul -what it means is different for every person. The point I drew from Kazyan's analogy is that art is more than one thing at the same time -that is to say, it means different things for every person, but it also means different things to THE SAME person.
Art could be just something pretty to look at.
Or it could be something with deep meaning.
Or it could be the opposite of "science" -something that cannot be clearly defined by its nature, and that cannot be learned or taught beyond a certain level.
Or it could be an expression of the soul, something that allows others to look into your innermost self.
Or it could be a type of communication, sometimes very direct, sometimes very indirect.
Or it could be a kind of Truth.
Art is what it is. It is one of those things which cannot be defined, and whose definition is therefore key.
Do you know what I think?

I think art is the meaning of life.
You could say that art means everything, but really art is just a word. And if you define a word to mean everything, then it means nothing. So perhaps art can be defined, and you are just trying to make art mean more than it does.
